Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur, has
signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Asian Institute of
Technology (AIT) Bangkok seeking student and faculty exchange programs,
collaborative research projects and organization of joint academic and
scientific activities. The MoU was signed by Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Raipur
and Prof. Said Irandoust, President, AIT on 18 October 2012.
Prof. Sahay remarked that his association with AIT
dates back to 17 years when he first visited the Institute. IIM Raipur has
already started its post-graduate and doctoral programmes and it wishes to
collaborate with AIT Bangkok in both Master’s and Doctoral programmes.
Both the top
Institutions are committed to promote more contacts and co-operation between
their faculty members. It is to be emphasized that contacts and cooperation
between faculty members create a strong basis for the development of joint
training programs, formulating joint research projects, exchange of teaching
materials, and exchange of students. Both institutions will collaborate in
research activities will be explored in subjects of mutual interest and benefit
and encourage the doctoral students to get a co – supervisor. IIM Raipur and AIT
Bangkok will conduct the exchange of postgraduate students starting in the
academic year 2013-14. Both institutions will accept to host a short study tour
of a few weeks by the students of the partner institution.
IIM Raipur and AIT Bangkok will explore possibilities of collaboration in
conducting middle and senior management training programs in business
management.
Prof. Said Irandoust, while welcoming Prof. Sahay
said AIT was happy to be associated with IIM. Prof. I.M.Pandey, Vice President
for Academic Affairs, AIT, elaborated on the many offerings in AIT,
particularly its Doctoral program in Business Administration (DBA). Prof. Sahay
expressed his desire to associate with AIT’s DBA program. Mr. Ahmed Amjad Ali,
Head, External Relations and Communications Office (ERCO), Mr. Tenzin Rabgyal,
Senior Program Officer, ERCO, and Ms. Binita Gurung, Program Assistant, School
of Management (SOM) also attended the meeting.
